Universal Pictures has released a near 3-minute behind-the-scenes featurette from the upcoming dinosaur adventure film Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which will be coming out June 22, 2018. In this featurette, we see just how much went into the creation of the film, including the promise that we’re going to be seeing more dinosaurs in this film than in any previous Jurassic Park entry. Additionally, the amount of practical FX being utilized is pretty astonishing, especially considering the size of some of these creations.

2015’s Jurassic World was a monster at the box office, both domestic and international. It pulled in nearly $1.7 billion, making it the 4th most successful movie, when not adjusting for inflation (24th if you do that). Directed by Colin Trevorrow, it followed a group of people who must survive when the open and fully functional Jurassic Park goes to hell after the escape of a genetically engineered super dinosaur. Fallen Kingdom takes place several years after those events when a volcano on the island is about to erupt and make dinosaurs extinct once again. For some strange reason, the protagonists of the first film go to the island to save the dinosaurs. Can’t they just leave well enough alone?

I remember seeing the first Jurassic Park in theaters on opening night and being absolutely blown away. The first time the T-rex roars still, to this day, makes the hairs on my arms stand on end. While I wasn’t the biggest fan of Jurassic World, I found it be entertaining enough, amidst all its glaring issues. So while I’m hesitant about Fallen Kingdom, I’ll most certainly be giving it a fair chance to prove itself, especially because it’s directed by J.A. Bayona.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Jeff Goldblum, who will be reprising his role as Dr. Ian Malcolm, who appeared in the first two Jurassic Park films.
