The blockbuster box office surprise of the year, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, continues to kick ass all over the country and – SURPRISE – the sequel chatter has begun.

It comes our way courtesy of The Wrap (along with two new badass one-sheets you can dig on below), which is reporting that the movie’s writers/producers not only expect a sequel or two — they are prepared for them.

“We’re definitely teed up. We feel very confident that there will be (a sequel), but at this point it’s still wait-and-see,” says writer/producer Rick Jaffa.

In its first five days of release Rise of the Planet of the Apes grossed $91.5 million worldwide. Its domestic gross for its opening weekend was $54.8 million.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes stars James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Brian Cox, Tom Felton, David Oyelowo and Andy Serkis as Caesar. Peter Chernin and Dylan Clark are producing for Chernin Entertainment under its pact with Fox. Rupert Wyatt is directed from a screenplay by Jaffa and Amanda Silver, who also produced.
