The past few years have brought us a handful of films that use our sleep as the primary place of terror and fear. It was done in Rodney Ascher’s The Nightmare, Jeffrey Reddick’s Dead Awake, and more. This December, you can add Slumber to the list of films that will make you afraid to close your eyes at night.

Starring Maggie Q, the film is about a family that is being plagued by a supernatural force that comes at them in their sleep. Q plays a sleep doctor who first tries to solve their issues using traditional methods but must turn to more drastic and unorthodox means when she realizes that modern medicine can’t cure the paranormal. Her journey leads her into the darkest places of her mind where she must confront a tragic past…

We’ve got an exclusive clip from the film in which Q is woken from her slumber (HA!) by a small boy wanting to play Hide and Seek. Finding him in the hallway, this innocent game quickly becomes a nightmare with deadly consequences. You can see it for yourself below.

Slumber was directed by Jonathan Hopkins, who co-wrote the film with Richard Hobley. It will be released in theaters on December 1 through Vertical Entertainment.
