Hot on the heels of us concluding our series of “The Secret Circle” interviews from last month’s Comic-Con comes some casting news for the series. “Make It or Break It” star Zachary Abel has landed a guest spot on the show, and while as of now it’s a one-episode appearance, you never know what might happen.
Per EW.com Abel (pictured, right) will first appear in Episode 3 as a hot jock named Luke, who will ask Cassie (Britt Robertson) out. For those unfamiliar with the storyline, the recently orphaned Cassie moves in with her grandmother in Chance Harbor, Washington, and learns that she’s a teen witch destined to bind powers with five others to complete a new generation of the Secret Circle. She also finds that she’s drawn to circle member Adam (Thomas Dekker) and hears that they are “written in the stars” — which executive producer Kevin Williamson is quick to say doesn’t mean what we think it means. In fact Adam has a girlfriend, Diana (Shelly Hennig), who genuinely wants to be Cassie’s friend.
Here’s what Williamson has to say about Abel as well as how much the show will focus on the high school student aspect of its main characters: “I was watching the dailies [Friday], and I think he’s doing a really great job. So I’m very excited about that story.” He continues, “As much as I steer away from that sort of high school storyline, they are in high school, and I do have a principal of the school [Natasha Henstridge] who is a central figure in the show. It’s always a really great place to start the storyline in Act I. ‘There they are in the hallway.’ Then, of course, by Act II, it’s after school.” Williamson laughs. “There are grades and homework and school events that we have to acknowledge. There’s a world out there that we want to keep very real.”
