We’re just a few short hours away from the release of Rise of the Planet of the Apes, which has been called by Dread Central staffers who have seen it, “Magnificent” and “The best Planet of the Apes film since the original”. To celebrate the flick’s release, we have a brand new international one-sheet for you! Dig it!

Rise of the Planet of the Apes stars James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Brian Cox, Tom Felton, David Oyelowo and Andy Serkis as Caesar. Peter Chernin and Dylan Clark are producing for Chernin Entertainment under its pact with Fox. Rupert Wyatt is directing from a screenplay by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, who are also producing.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes opens in US theaters on August 5, 2011, and in the UK on August 11, 2011.

A single act of both compassion and arrogance leads to a war unlike any other — and to the RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES. The Oscar-winning visual effects team that brought to life the worlds of Avatar and Lord of the Rings is breaking new ground, creating a CGI ape that delivers a dramatic performance of unprecedented emotion and intelligence and epic battles on which rest the upended destinies of man and primate.

You're such an inspiration for the ways that I will never, ever choose to be.

I’m going to wait for the version with practical ape f/x. Oh wait! Guess I can pass on this one.

      Enjoy your copy of Congo.

ROTPOTA looks damn good and the CGI looks great. Could care less that it’s not real monkeys or guys in monkey makeup, given how awesome the monkeys look in the trailers.

I’ll enjoy my copies of the original POTA movies.

You must be a real tease at restaurants, you likely order whatever isn’t on the menu.

I’ve only seen one trailer for this but I’m thinking it’s going to kick ass. Love the re-imagining of such a fantastic cult classic. Casting Andy Serkis if brilliant. That creepy bastard plays really good humanoids.

Thanks for posting. I look forward to seeing how others feel about this one.

    Have a good one,
