Klanshark: The Great White Supremacist … Whoops! I mean Swamp Shark is the Syfy original movie about a shark loose in the Louisiana bayou that mostly eats black actors and the white women that love them. If you think my alternate title is dubious, read on and I’ll unveil the film’s hilarious Japanese release title.
Kristy Swanson, D.B. Sweeney, and Robert Davi star in this Syfy original about an illegal animal smuggler who mistakenly frees a voracious deep sea predator in a backwater Cajun swamp. As I noted in my review, this shark spends two thirds of the film curiously only eating African-Americans and white women involved in interracial romances and then tries to make amends for its prejudiced ways by only eating douchebags the world would be better off without.
Swamp Shark scored the highest rating of any Syfy original movie thus far this year when it premiered back in June, and now Screen Media Films has slotted G.E. Furst’s jawstacular ratings chomper for an October 11th DVD release. No word of any DVD extras. I’m hoping for an audio commentary track by a really pissed off Al Sharpton.
The Japanese will be getting the DVD release a month earlier on September 2nd. They’ll also be getting Swamp Shark under a different title. I have no idea what to make of this alternate title. Maybe because there’s a scene in the film where the shark jumps out of the water to chomp a guy they decided to call it Flying Jaws but because their Engrish isn’t very good they screwed up the spelling. Who knows? But their titling is quite hilarious nonetheless.
