The Curse of Sleeping Beauty

XLrator Media has long been a friend to fans of horror films, and now they’re branching out and taking over the small screen as well with XLrator TV! One of their first projects is a series based on Pearry Teo’s The Curse of Sleeping Beauty, and we have all your early details right here.

From the Press Release:
Following the October 20th premiere of its first TV series, “Superstition,” on SYFY (Netflix worldwide), XLrator Media has announced the launch of its new television division XLrator TV. The company will work directly with networks, co-production, and distribution partners to package, develop, and produce scripted, reality, and other non-fiction programming for the global television and SVOD marketplace.

To launch the division, the company is expanding its relationship with two of its most creative co-production partners, Rugged Entertainment and Bleiberg Entertainment. The company has worked with Rugged Entertainment on several critically-acclaimed documentary features including The Legend of 420, Who the F**k Is That Guy?, and Queen Mimi. Over the years, Bleiberg Entertainment and XLrator Media have collaborated together on many elevated genre films including the recent Savage Dog, Close Range, and cult hit The Curse of Sleeping Beauty, which the companies are developing into a thrilling new scripted series.

”On the heels of our first global genre series ‘Superstition,’ we are excited to embark on this new chapter at the company with the creation of this new premium TV content division,” said XLrator Media CEO Barry Gordon.

“THE CURSE OF SLEEPING BEAUTY” is a co-production of XLrator TV and Bleiberg Entertainment. Based on the 2016 cult hit fantasy-thriller The Curse of Sleeping Beauty and a spin-off comic book series by renowned illustrator Everette Hartsoe (Razor), the new TV series will be created and executive produced by Pearry Teo, Ehud Bleiberg, and Barry Gordon. The series is an entirely new, dark modern-day interpretation of the Brothers Grimm classic and will follow Thomas Kaiser, a young man who inherits an ancestral mansion that has been in his family for generations — only to learn that he has also inherited an ancient curse stemming back to the Crusades. Forced into his new role as “protector” — the guardian appointed to keep the evil demons in the house at bay — Thomas must unravel the mystery of the house, while struggling to awaken the beautiful Briar Rose, held captive in a terrifying netherworld.

Robert Pattinson Joins The Lighthouse From the Director of The Witch

Published

on

Robert Eggers made us all turn our heads with his directing debut The Witch a few years back, and so we are eagerly awaiting his new film The Lighthouse from RT Features and A24.

“I am extremely happy to be working with RT, A24, and Parts & Labor again,” Eggers says. “Along with New Regency, they are providing me and my collaborators with the support and freedom to make this film the way it needs to be made. It’s a privilege.”

Last week we learned that Willem Dafoe has joined the cast of Eggers’ new film and today we have word via Deadline that Robert Pattinson will be joining in on the spooky fun as well.

RT Features’ Teixeira called Pattinson “one of the most talented actors working today. We are excited to work with him and Eggers, a singular filmmaker whose unique vision we support. Our collaboration on The Witch was flawless, and we look forward to reuniting along with our partners at A24, Parts & Labor and New Regency.”

The film is being described as “a fantasy horror story set in the world of old sea-faring myths” and is all set to go into production in the spring.

A24 said in a statement that they are “beyond excited to be partnering again with Rob Eggers, a true visionary and one of the great filmmakers of his generation. This new script blew us away — it creates a totally unique and ambitious universe and manages to somehow feel scary, suspenseful, wondrous and beautiful all at the same time. We can’t wait to work with Rob and his team and our partners at RT Features, Parts & Labor and New Regency to help bring this story to life.”

A24 acquired worldwide rights and will distribute the film in the U.S. New Regency (The Revenant) has joined the project as a co-financier.

“I love that we’re getting the band back together again,” Parts & Labor’s Jay Van Hoy says. “This time with old friend and new star player Youree Henley. Like The Witch, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

We’ll let you know as soon as we hear more on Robert Eggers’ The Lighthouse, but until then let us know what you think thus far below!

The film is directed by Robert Eggers (The Witch) from a script by Eggers and Max Eggers. Rodrigo Teixeira and Lourenço Sant’ Anna are producing alongside Jay Van Hoy and Youree Henley and the film stars Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe.

The Lighthouse begins shooting this spring.
