Horror/Sci-Fi Thriller Aliens: Zone of Silence Heading to VOD/DVD Next Week

Published

on

A new horror/sci-fi thriller is heading our way next week, and if that type of film is in your wheelhouse, read on for your first look at Aliens: Zone of Silence, which arrives on VOD this coming Tuesday courtesy of Through the Line Films and Gravitas Ventures.

From the Press Release:
The new horror/thriller Aliens: Zone of Silence will be available On Demand throughout the world beginning October 24, 2017. The film is being released by independent film distributor Gravitas Ventures, the largest VOD aggregator in North America, and will be on over 100 cable and digital platforms, including Comcast, Cox, Dish Network, and Verizon Fios, in addition to Amazon Video, Google Play, iTunes, Vimeo on Demand, and Vudu. The film will also be available on DVD and Blu-ray at Amazon and Family Video.

Starring Sarah Hester (Youthful Daze), Peter Gesswein (A Plea for Tenderness), Jed Maheu (The Rambler), and Vince Tula (Four Cities), Aliens: Zone of Silence follows a young woman who goes on a daring search for answers after her brother vanishes from the Mexican desert. But when she discovers an extraterrestrial presence, she must risk her life to expose the desert’s otherworldly secret.

This is the feature directorial debut for renowned visual effects producer Andy Fowler, who was previously the Vice President of Visual Effects and Production at the Walt Disney Company and has worked as a VFX producer on such blockbusters as The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, 300, TRON: Legacy, Noah, and San Andreas, to name a few. He is currently the Director of Visual Effects at Netflix.

Fowler also served as a producer on Aliens: Zone of Silence along with Jorge García Castro (Amateur Night), Marcos Cline-Márquez (Sin Ella), and Diego del Río Toca (Little Bitches). The team brought their visual effects experience to the forefront, utilizing veteran VFX companies One Of Us and Atomic Arts.

Aliens: Zone of Silence largely takes place in a swath of the Mexican desert known as “La Zona del Silencio.” In 1970, the U.S. military launched a test missile containing radioactive elements from Green River, Utah, toward White Sands Missile Range. But they lost control of the missile, and it fell in the Mapimí Desert region. Ever since, there have been rumors of magnetic anomalies that prevent radio transmissions, local plant and wildlife mutations, and extraterrestrial activity.

“We’re excited to finally share Aliens: Zone of Silence with the world,” said García Castro.

When asked to describe the film, Cline-Márquez summed it up nicely: “Think The Blair Witch Project, but instead of witches in the woods, it’s aliens in the desert.”

Last week we shared you first look at Metallica’s James Hetfield in director Joe Berlinger’s Ted Bundy flick Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile.

Today we have a few new pics from the film straight from Zac Efron himself. The actor posted these fresh photos on his Instagram today and you can check them out below.

The new pics feature Efron as creepy Bundy, along with our first looks at “Big Bang Theory” star Jim Parsons as Lead Prosecutor Larry Simpson and Kaya Scodelario (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) as Carole Anne Boone, the ex-wife of the notorious serial killer.

If we can say nothing more about this Bundy film at this time, we can say that it sure as hell boasts some ballsy casting choices. And we’re all for that. What do you think? Let us know below!

The film is directed by Joe Berlinger from a script by Michael Werwie and stars John Malkovich, Lily Collins, Kaya Scodelario, Angela Sarafyan, Jeffrey Donovan, Jim Parsons, and Zac Efron as Ted Bundy.

The movie is currently shooting in Covington, Kentucky.

Synopsis:

Told through the perspective of Elizabeth Kloepfer, Bundy’s longtime girlfriend who went years denying the accusations against Bundy, but ultimately turned him into the police. Only nearing his execution, when Bundy began talking about his extensive and heinous murders, did Kloepfer, and the rest of the world, learn the true scope of his numerous and grizzly murders.

I’m literally falling for you. ❤😎#happyvalentinesday

The Kids Lead the Charge When There are Monsters at Large

Published

on

With all the depressing news of late about kids having to contend with real-life monsters, we can take solace in the fact that the childhood horror that is “the monster in the closet” is finally about to meet its match at the hands of some monster-busting kids in the forthcoming feature Monsters at Large.

From Florida filmmaker Jason Murphy and screenwriter Anthony Steven Giordano, the duo behind the Robo-Dog movies, comes Monsters at Large. The PG-rated flick about children with an overactive imagination that form a task force to stop imaginary monsters only to encounter the real thing is slated for release on DVD and VOD via Lionsgate on March 13th.

Mischa Barton (“The OC”), Austin St. John (“Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers”), veteran character actor Stephen Tobolowsky, and The Florida Project’s Brooklynn Prince star.

Synopsis:
Mischa Barton and Austin St. John highlight this frightfully funny family adventure in the spirit of Ghostbusters, Goonies, Super 8, and “Stranger Things.” Alex decides to end his kid brother’s nightmares by forming a task force to take care of imaginary monsters. When their business becomes a hit, nothing can go wrong… until one of the monsters turns out to be real – and really big! Brooklynn Prince and Stephen Tobolowsky also stars in this spooky, silly supernatural saga.

You’ll find the trailer for Monsters at Large above. You’ll also find the monster at large looks an awful lot like Sully from Monsters Inc.
