Robert Englund Says He’s Too Old To Play Freddy Again

While it seems we have been hearing Robert Englund confirm he is finished with playing Freddy Krueger time and time again, every new instance of his confirmation makes us weep a bit.

And in keeping with what seems to be an annual tradition with the A Nightmare on Elm Street actor nowadays, Robert Englund has, yet again, stated he is done with the razor glove forever, this time to EW.

“I’m too old to do another Freddy now,” Englund told the site. “If I do a fight scene now it’s got to be real minimal because I can’t snap my head for eight different takes and different angles. My spine gets sore. I can still be mean and scary, but I’m mostly relegated now to sort of Van Helsing roles, old doctors and s—. So it’s fun that the last moment of me ever playing Freddy is a wink to the audience.”

This is (always) sad news to hear coming from Englund, but I firmly believe with all of the CGI used now to bring characters back to life on the big screen, soon enough we will see Englund return as Freddy. In some form.

God willing.
