Some honest to goodness non-Comic-Con related news just crossed our desk, and it’s made us happier than anything else we’re likely to hear all week: Lionsgate has set a release date for Drew Goddard’s Cabin in the Woods!
Per Deadline we can expect to see Cabin in the Woods on April 13, 2012. Considering the film’s pedigree — Cloverfield writer Drew Goddard directed the film and co-wrote it with The Avengers director Joss Whedon, and the cast includes Thor‘s Chris Hemsworth — the announcement was no doubt timed to coincide with today’s opening of the San Diego Comic-Con even though the film itself doesn’t have a presence there. Cabin in the Woods also stars Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford.
And we finally have a bit of synopsis, too: Hemsworth plays a young professional who visits a quaint cabin in the woods with a group of friends and ends up scratching the surface of something so massive and horrific that they can only begin to fathom it as time quickly runs out.
