John Carpenter Says New Halloween Picks Up Right After the Original

Last week we brought you news that Judy Greer was cast as Laurie Strode’s daughter, Karen, in the upcoming Blumhouse Halloween sequel co-written by Danny McBride & David Gordon Green and directed by Green.
Today we have updates on the new Halloween film from the original film’s writer-director himself, John Carpenter.
Carpenter recently sat down with Stereo Gum and was eventually asked about his involvement with David Gordon Green’s Halloween. Carpenter let slip some interesting bits including how impressed he was with the new script.
John Carpenter on scoring the new Halloween, “Sure. I’d like to do it. I’ve worked with them a little bit on the script. I’m just around to be a cheerleader for everybody.”
The site then asked Carpenter if he had a hand in getting Jamie Lee Curtis back into the mix.
To which he replied, “No. She talked to the director. Her part was written into the script and they had this idea — it’s kind of a… I don’t know how to describe it. It’s almost an alternative reality. It picks up after the first one and it pretends that none of the other [sequels] were made. It’s gonna be fun. There’s a really talented director and it was well-written. I’m impressed.”
Creator and original director John Carpenter will be acting as executive producer on the film with franchise regular Malek Akkad producing. It’s being written by Danny McBride and David Gordon Green with Green directing.
Look for the film worldwide in October 2018.
Synopsis:
Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.
