Production on Bride of Frankenstein Has Been Shut Down

In today’s most unsurprising news, Universal has pulled the plug (for now) on their reboot of Bride of Frankenstein. Pre-production on the new entry within Universal’s planned Dark Universe series was already underway in London. Then the studio showed up yesterday and told cast and crew to go home until further notice.
In a statement to Deadline, Universal said, “After thoughtful consideration, Universal Pictures and director Bill Condon have decided to postpone Bride of Frankenstein. None of us want to move too quickly to meet a release date when we know this special movie needs more time to come together. Bill is a director whose enormous talent has been proven time and again, and we all look forward to continuing to work on this film together.”
Supposedly the reason for the delay is so the studio can get a few more script rewrites out of David Koepp before they, you know, spend over $100 million on the flick. Smart idea, huh?
Bride of Frankenstein (was) set for release on Valentine’s Day 2019. We’ll keep you up to date as the film progresses. Or doesn’t.
