As if St. Louis didn’t have enough of a nightmare last month when Albert Pujols went down with a broken arm, Late Nite Grindhouse is bringing an ultra-rare 35mm print of Romano Scavolini’s 1981 film Nightmare to the Hi-Pointe Theatre on August 5 and 6 for two midnight showings.

Featuring the special F/X work of Tom Savini, Nightmare is classic 80’s horror at its finest with bottomless buckets of blood and gore. Check out the no-holds-barred trailer below to get an idea what those of you in St. Lou are in for!

From the Press Release
Destroy the Brain presents a 30th anniversary screening of Romano Scavolini’s Nightmare. We will be showing a rare 35mm print of this lost film of the 80′s slasher genre. Nightmare is a unique film which pulls no punches and includes one of the best decapitation scenes of 80′s horror cinema.

Synopsis
Escaped mental patient George (Baird Stafford) repeatedly suffers a graphic nightmare that depicts the axe murders of a couple making love. In Florida a prowler stalks a babysitter – when she is attacked, the youngest child she is looking after just sits and laughs. George begins a journey of brutal murder, death and destruction until the final moment of truth when his nightmares come to frightening life! (aka Nightmare in a Damaged Brain and Blood Splash)

Arrive early for the Psychotronic Pre-Show, which includes video oddities and vintage trailers, as it starts at 11:30pm followed by a special presentation containing some of the history of Nightmare and the controversy between the film and Tom Savini.

The film starts around midnight. Visit the Late Nite Grindhouse website for more info.
