This year’s Fantasia Film Festival is home to one of the longest lists of feature films we’ve seen in all our years of reporting on the fest. In addition they’ll be screening several short films. Info on one of them, Axelle Carolyn’s The Last Post, just landed in our inbox; and of course we have to share!

Axelle Carolyn’s directorial debut The Last Post, a short film produced by Neil Marshall and starring Jean Marsh, will have its world premiere at Montreal’s leading horror and fantasy festival, Fantasia, on July 17, 2011, before the premiere of Mike Cahill’s Another Earth.

The Last Post follows Colette, an elderly lady in a nursing home, who is visited by a mysterious stranger no one else seems able to see. At once chilling and touching, it is a story of loneliness, old age and regrets, but also of love and hope.

The Last Post was shot in one day in London, UK.

Check out a couple of stills from the film below, and keep it here for more as Axelle has promised it will be showing at a few other fests as well, and we’ll keep you apprised as the names and dates are released.
