Earlier this year we brought you the first word on horror-comedy television show “The Horror Geeks,” which is currently being actively shopped to various networks, and now we bring you the first word on the new media version of the show, titled “The Horror Geekcast.”

Starring show creator Barry Morgan and “The Horror Geeks” hosts Andrew Maiorano, Sarah Nicklin (The Basement, Nun of That), and Jose Prendes, as well as a cast of revolving guest stars, “The Horror Geekcast” is a video podcast devoted to the horror genre. Currently four episodes are available, with weekly episodes starting September 12th.

“While we play the waiting game, which can be excruciating, I decided that we shouldn’t just lay back and cross our fingers, waiting for something to happen,” Morgan explained. “So I got the team together, and we decided to start doing a video podcast. In essence, it’s a stripped down version of our television show that allows us to discuss our favorite subject, horror movies, as well as get our material out to the masses.”

Don’t be fooled by the word “podcast,” though. This is unlike anything else that’s out there right now. Instead of the typical “talking heads” format, Morgan and his team utilize a multi-cam setup and use a variety of cut-aways and skits to keep the show flowing at a bloody and comedic pace.

“When we decided to do a podcast, I didn’t want the show to be like every other video podcast,” Morgan added. “Talking head shows are fine, and I don’t have anything against them, but I wanted to up the bar and give the series more of a variety show feel. I also wanted to add some episodic elements and give the hosts character arcs. For example, I start a relationship with a succubus, Andy disappears into another dimension, and our horror news broadcaster has to deal with an overbearing Pamela Voorhees, who believes her son Jason has been wrongly accused of murder. We also have a running gag about us in ‘real life’ trying to get the TV show picked up.”

Morgan and team have also started a Patreon account. Subscribers can access the “Bloody Bonus” from each episode – a more free-form discussion from the hosts. Other rewards include extended takes, outtakes, commentary tracks, full episodes only available to Patreon subscribers, and a personal thank you from Mrs. Voorhees.
