Right away, don’t get your hopes up if you’re thinking this is about the TV series. Nope, this is 20th Century Fox announcing that the 1992 comedy/horror film Buffy the Vampire Slayer will be getting a 25th anniversary release on Digital HD on October 2nd with a Blu-ray/DVD release on October 3rd.

The special features include a featurette, the theatrical trailer, and TV spots plus a 5.1 audio mix. Apart from that, there’s not too much to report here.

Directed by Fran Rubel Kuzui and written by Joss Whedon, Buffy the Vampire Slayer stars Kristy Swanson, Luke Perry, Donald Sutherland, Rutger Hauer, and Paul Reubens.

Okay, story time: When I was a young lad, I saw this movie and adored the scene where Buffy used hairspray and a lighter to create a fireball. So, in my warped, idiotic, prepubescent mind, I figured I’d reenact that scene…in the second floor of my childhood clubhouse. Let’s just say the first two times where a success but then things got out of control when some flaming hairspray fell between the floorboards onto a pile of dead leaves. One massive fire later and I was grounded for my entire summer vacation. It was years before my parents trusted me to watch a PG-13 film on my own again.

Synopsis:
For pampered cheerleader Buffy, the only thing worse than discovering that her town is infested with vampires is being told it’s up to her to defeat them all – including their creepy leader! But, with help from a mysterious stranger and a handsome mechanic, Buffy’s soon kicking serious vampire butt in this cult classic!
