About a month has gone by since last we told you about the new sliver of Sasquatchploitation coming our way known as Night Claws. This flick sounded like nothing short of chicken-fried gold, and now there are even more reasons to get excited!

Night Claws stars Reb Brown, Leilani Sarelle, Ted Prior, Sherrie Rose, David Campbell, and Frank Stallone. Yes, Frank Stallone. For more information head on over to the official Night Claws Facebook page and the newly launched Night Claws website.

Bruce Larsen and old friend of the website Bill “Splat” Johnson are handing the practical special effects. No CGI here, folks. This is old school monster moviemaking. Watch the teaser below and try not to smile! We dare you! Thanks to DC reader Avery for the heads-up.

Synopsis
A small town is being terrorized by a killer Bigfoot. One that is bloodthirsty, vicious and kills without warning and without discrimination. A scientist by the name of Sarah Evans (Leilani Sarelle; Basic Instinct and Barbarians at the Gate) shows up to help the town’s sheriff (Reb Brown; Yor, the Hunter from the Future and Space Mutiny) and his deputy girlfriend Roberta (Sherrie Rose; King of the Kickboxers and Black Scorpion II: Aftershock) hunt this thing down and put an end to the killings. At the same time, Hunter Crawford (David Campbell; Deadly Prey) is a thug-like character who, along with his two henchmen, is hunting the creature himself for his own personal gain, and he does not care who he has to go through to accomplish this. Enter Charlie Parker (Ted Prior, Deadly Prey and Mutant Species), a tough East Coast type who is on a survivalist camping trip, led by the seasoned survivalist Sharon Farmer (Tara Sanford Kleinpeter; The One Warrior) at the behest of his young trophy wife (Alissa Koenig; Zombie Wars) and who, by no fault of his own, winds up being used as bait for the creature by Hunter. But there is more at work here than meets the eye. A sinister plot is afoot, and at its center is the vengeful Mister Testi (Frank Stallone; Hudson Hawk and Tombstone). And in the end this plot takes a twist that no one will expect.

Toy Fair 2018: Funko’s Savage World Turns Horror Icons Into Masters of the Universe Characters

Published

on

Overview

What would happen if classic horror icons existed within the world of the Masters of the Universe franchise? That’s a question Funko have answered with their new ‘Savage World’ line of action figures, which depicts horror characters including Leatherface, Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, and Pinhead as they would look had they been birthed into the world of Castle Grayskull alongside He-Man and Skeletor. Funko have given us some pretty weird shit over the years, but this is on a whole other level.

Thanks to Bloody Disgusting, Preternia, Popvinyls.com, and the Twitter account @FakeEyes22, we are able to share some images of these testosterone-fueled slasher figures, which were on display at the New York Toy Fair. There’s currently no word on when these musclebound monstrosities will be hitting stores, but I’m willing to bet that one look at the gallery below will instantly have you counting your change.

Death Confirmed to Be Part of Bill & Ted 3

Published

on

Ingmar Bergman’s The Seventh Seal introduced the world to a version of death that has since become iconic. A dark force, the Grim Reaper is willing to give people a chance to reclaim their souls should they best it in a game. While this incarnation is truly magnificent, I believe that many people will recognize the parody version that William Sadler brought to life in Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, the 1991 sequel that saw Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves’ characters die and face the awkward spirit.

Nearly three decades later, fans of the Bill & Ted series are awaiting a third film, which has been known to be in the works for quite a while. Dubbed Bill & Ted Face the Music, it’s been written by Ed Solomon (Men in Black), who recently took to Twitter to confirm that the scythe-wielding ghoul is in the film and that he hopes William Sadler reprises the role! Solomon is also the man responsible for writing the first two films as well as the animated series “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventures” and the 1991 video game Bill & Ted’s Excellent Video Game Adventure.

At this point, it’s all just speculation as to if a third film will ever be made. However, nearly every single party involved is ready to make this a reality, so all it needs is a studio to pony up the money!

Doug Jones Would Love to Return as Billy Butcherson in Hocus Pocus 2

Published

on

“Wench! Trollop! You buck-toothed, mop-riding, firefly from hell!”

One of my favorite horror movies as a kid was Hocus Pocus, co-written by Mick Garris (The Stand, Sleepwalkers). The film has only grown more precious in my eyes as I’ve grown up due to its utter love of all things Halloween.

If you haven’t seen it (for some reason) think of it as a combination of Rob Zombie’s Lords of Salem and Michael Dougherty’s Trick ‘r Treat… but, you know, a kid’s Disney movie version.

However you choose to describe the awesomeness that is Hocus Pocus, you have to admit that the film is primed for a sequel. And recently we heard word that a TV sequel is on the way, but no one seems to be too happy about that.

Well, except Doug Jones.

For those who might not know, Doug Jones is – oh, whatever, all of you know who Doug Jones is – but you might not know that in addition to playing such iconic roles as The Pale Man in Pan’s Labyrinth, Abe Sapien in Hellboy, and the creature in The Shape of Water, Jones played Billy Butcherson in Hocus Pocus.

In a recent interview with Digital Spy, Jones spoke a bit about Hocus Pocus 2 and his desire to return to his much-loved role as Billy Butcherson.

“There was talk about doing a ’20 years later’ sequel that I would have been involved with,” he told the site. “I was actually approached and asked about that. I would love to reprise Billy Butcherson.”

Sweet! So does this mean the that a “20 years later” official sequel might still happen?

“It’s not off the table,” he said. “The news article that I read about this TV movie sounds like… I’m not sure if it’s a reboot or if it is that ’20 years later’ sequel. It was grey about what the storyline was. So I’m just going to keep my knees bent and be ready in case they call.”

Nice! To finish it all up, Jones then went on to say this about the original film:

“It only grows in popularity every year,” said Jones. “I did not see that coming, that 24 years later it would be more popular now than it’s ever been! That’s crazy for a movie to do!”

I agree! Hocus Pocus is one of those rare movies that almost everyone I know enjoys. Sure some people are a little hesitant to share their love of the film, but those of us who don’t care about such things as digging a cool kid’s horror movie, we share the love when and where ever we can. Case in point, if you have never seen Hocus Pocus, do so tonight! Trust me, you’ll thank us.

BUY IT ON BLU-RAY!

Synopsis:

After moving to Salem, Mass., teenager Max Dennison (Omri Katz) explores an abandoned house with his sister Dani (Thora Birch) and their new friend, Allison (Vinessa Shaw). After dismissing a story Allison tells as superstitious, Max accidentally frees a coven of evil witches (Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy) who used to live in the house. Now, with the help of a magical cat, the kids must steal the witches’ book of spells to stop them from becoming immortal.
