Well, the cover art is a bit terrible, but I guess one can’t blame First Look for trying to give the DVD for The Ferryman the creepiest look it can. Too bad it screams Lionsgate direct to video release to me…
The Ferryman tells of some kids out for a pleasure-filled weekend off the island of Fiji. They cross paths with a sick, dying Greek man (Jonathan Rhys Davies) who has been cheating death for years by taking over new bodies. Unfortunately for the kids on the boat, the Ferryman has now come to collect the Greek man, but he’s not going without a fight.
First Looks will release The Ferryman onto DVD this September 25th (pre-order it here), but those of you lucky/smart enough to be attending this year’s Fantasia Film Festival can check it out on the big screen on both July 16th and July 17th, and since it got into the fest it’s almost guaranteed to be better than most of the Lionsgate releases that it’s cover is so similar to… Look for a review from the fest very soon!
