Ah, the Italian countryside! So rife with beauty! So filled with malevolent spirits who want nothing more than to haunt the living until they reach their breaking point and join their ranks. Those Italians are tenacious!
According to Variety Maggie Gyllenhaal has signed up to topline Eric Howell’s supernatural thriller Voice From the Stone, which K5 International is selling in Cannes.
Produced by Dean Zanuck and Stefano Gallini, the film is based on the Italian novel Le Voce Della Pietra by Silvio Raffo.
Gyllenhaal will play the role of a nurse drawn to the aid of a young boy who is haunted by malevolent forces within the walls of an old house in the Italian countryside. As she develops a relationship with the father of the boy, she also becomes haunted by the same evil presence and must fight to save herself and the boy.
