#SDCC17: Syfy Renews Wynonna Earp for a Third Season

Published

on

We don’t talk much about Syfy’s “Wynonna Earp” around these parts, but the show obviously has a pretty loyal fan base as the network just announced out of the San Diego Comic-Con that it’s been renewed for a third season. Read on for the official details!

From the Press Release:
Today SYFY and IDW Entertainment announced the renewal of breakout supernatural series “WYNONNA EARP” for a third season, expected to premiere in 2018. The announcement was made during the show’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con, which was attended by cast members Melanie Scrofano, Shamier Anderson, Tim Rozon, Dominique Provost-Chalkley, Katherine Barrell, Varun Saranga, and Tamara Duarte along with showrunner and creator Emily Andras and comic book creator Beau Smith.

Moderated by UPROXX’s Donna Dickens, the cast revealed behind-the-scenes antics and more details about the biggest hidden secret of the season – writing in Melanie Scrofano’s real-life pregnancy, which made Wynonna Earp the first pregnant superhero. Die-hard Earpers got to see an exclusive trailer for the remainder of the season and were surprised by the Season 3 renewal announcement made on stage by IDW Entertainment President, David Ozer.

“Fans have been passionately embracing ‘WYNONNA EARP’ since its debut,” said Ozer. “SYFY recognized that passion and, when coupled with superior writing, acting, directing, and production values, saw that ‘WYNONNA EARP’ was more than just a distinctly unique television series. We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with SYFY and look forward to another fun season of incredible entertainment with the cast and crew of ‘WYNONNA EARP.’”

“We are so excited have this strong female-led, witty action series return for another season and deliver something special to our passionate fans around the world,” added Andras.

Produced in Calgary by SEVEN24 Films and globally distributed by IDW Entertainment, “WYNONNA EARP” follows legendary lawman Wyatt Earp’s descendant, Wynonna (Scrofano), who inherits his mystical gun, Peacemaker. With it, Wynonna and her posse of dysfunctional allies must fight against supernatural beings and other paranormal occurrences in a raucous, whisky-soaked struggle to break her family’s demonic curse. Andras (“LOST GIRL,” “KILLJOYS”) developed the wildly imaginative series for television and serves as Executive Producer and Showrunner. SEVEN24’s Jordy Randall and Tom Cox serve as Executive Producers along with IDW CEO & Publisher Ted Adams and Ozer, as well as Todd Berger and Rick Jacobs.

“WYNONNA EARP” is currently airing Fridays at 10/9c on SYFY.

Toy Fair 2018: Mezco Toyz Display a Ton of Stunning Horror Figures

Published

on

Mezco Toyz have absolutely killed it at this year’s Toy Fair, because they’ve showed off a wealth of stunning new horror figures. If I were a religious man, I would be praying to win the lottery so I can get my hands on all of these.

Firstly, they revealed new additions to their One:12 line of realistic action figures. To begin with, there’s Ash from Evil Dead II, and he’s looking groovier than ever, with Bruce Campbell’s likeness being instantly recognizable. The bloody wounds on his face are also a nice touch. Then there’s Jason from Friday the 13th Part III, the first film where he donned the now iconic hockey mask. The last figure depicts Michael Myers as he appeared in the original 1978 Halloween, and he looks ready to kill.

The label next to the displayed Ash figure says that it’s set to be released this summer, whilst the Jason figure will murder its way into stores sometime next year. The Michael Myers figure is already available to pre-order on Mezco’s website, and is expected to ship sometime between June and August of this year.

Other One:12 figures on display at the event included the iconic zombies from Dawn of the Dead and the team from the original Ghostbusters, along with Slimer, the franchise’s ghostly mascot. Although they’re not exactly horror movies, the figures of Alex from A Clockwork Orange and the dog-loving hitman John Wick from the film of the same name are also worth a look.

Mezco have given us some top quality Marvel collectibles over the years, so you probably won’t be too surprised to learn that their One:12 Marvel figures displayed at Toy Fair were also nothing short of spectacular. You can view the full Marvel lineup of figures here, with Blade, Doctor Strange, and the Punisher being particular standouts. If you’re an avid viewer of Netflix’s “Daredevil” MCU show, you’ll probably be glad to see that they’ve included variations of Matt Murock in both his black cloth costume and his shining red devil armor. On the DC side of things, the two figures of the psychotic Joker both looked about as crazy as you would expect.

Outside of the One:12 line, Mezco are also displaying both 7″ and 18″ figures of King Kong as he appeared in last year’s Skull Island, which is also presumably how he’ll look in 2020’s Godzilla vs. Kong (although he was presumably wasn’t fully grown in Skull Island). I think I want them both.

Looking at the gallery below, why don’t you let us know in the comments which of the figures displayed by Mezco at Toy Fair is your favorite? Special thanks to The Toyark for sharing all the images.

Troy Baker and Emily O’Brien Confirmed For Death Stranding

Published

on

While there’s still no release date for Hideo Kojima’s mysterious Death Stranding, there have been regular(-ish) updates for the sci-fi/horror game. These little tidbits act not only as seeds of information but also as additions to the overall mystery surrounding the game, which is basically what gets Kojima’s all hot and bothered.

Last night, actress Emily O’Brien posted a photo on her Instagram where she revealed that she has been working on Death Stranding alongside Norman Reedus and another actor who is renowned in the gaming community: Troy Baker. No description of either of their characters’ roles were revealed in the description, which leads to the “mystery” part of the story. With Reedus already being shown as the main character, Mads Mikkelsen as the villain, and Guillermo del Toro having a role of unknown size, I’m curious where Baker and O’Brien fit into the story. With side characters having just as much importance as mains in many games these days, you never know what kind of impact these actors will have on the greater story.

Baker is known for playing Joel in The Last of Us as well as Samuel Drake in Uncharted 4, Booker DeWitt in Bioshock: Infinite, and Bruce Wayne in Batman: The Telltale Series, as well as a great deal more. O’Brien has offered her voice in titles such as League of Legends, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series, and Paranormal Activity: The Lost Soul, as well as acted in film and TV.

Below is a fascinating dive into Death Stranding from my pal RagnarRox.
