Puppet Killer Gets a Hilariously Terrifying Trailer

Published

on

Jessica Cameron is back in the new horror comedy Puppet Killer, which has just debuted a trailer. Directed by Lisa Ovies, Puppet Killer also stars Aleks Paunovic, Richard Harmon, Lee Majdoub, Kyle Cassie, and Gigi Saul Guerrero and is set to hit the festival circuit next year.

From the Press Release:
The much anticipated trailer for Lisa Ovies’ film Puppet Killer comes on the heels of some amazing additions to the team. Joining Lisa are producer Jessica Cameron (Truth or Dare), composer Stephen Gallagher (The Lovely Bones, The Hobbit Trilogy), and Darren Leader of Steel Panther.

The film features a powerful ensemble cast including Aleks Paunovic (War for the Planet of The Apes, “iZombie”), Richard Harmon (“The 100,” “Bates Motel”), Lee Majdoub (“Supernatural”), Lisa Durupt (Murder She Baked), Kyle Cassie (Deadpool), and Gigi Saul Guerrero (El Gigante, Barbarous Mexico).

The plot of the film centers around a group of high school students who are stalked by a psychotic killer obsessed with horror movie icons during Christmas vacation.

Daren Leader, known for his work with the hugely popular band Steel Panther, is working on several exclusive songs for the film and said, “I jumped at the chance to work with Lisa. She is incredibly talented, and she just knows how to make a killer movie! Puppet Killer is a great homage to the movies I grew up on, and it is an honor to be a part of it.”

Also joining the post-production team is the award-nominated composer Stephen Gallagher. Stephen Gallagher, most known for his work on The Hobbit franchise, Lovely Bones, and District 9, said, “Lisa and her team have created a fantastically compelling film. I am extremely excited to be collaborating with her in creating the soundtrack to Puppet Killer. It will be great! Well… it better be… Simon threatened to hunt me down if it was not up to his own high standards…”

Director Lisa Ovies is rightfully excited, and here is what she had to say about the film: “I can’t wait to share this film with the world. We were excited about it before as our cast is so amazing and the film was such a passion project, but the calibre of people that have jumped on board to finish it is unbelievable. Working with Stephen on the score and with Darren to write original songs is insane. They are so crazy talented, and having their marks on our film is fucking awesome. And obviously bringing the passion and energy of Jessica has been a true gift. The entire team has worked so hard to get here, and I could not be happier to be working with them all to get this film out to the world.”

Puppet Killer is expected to hit the film festival circuit early 2018.

Werewolf Short Werehouse Coming this Halloween

Published

on

Director Daniel Mark Young, you you may remember for the horror shorts Stranger, Night Terrors, and Run, is currently raising funds on Kickstarter to complete his latest ambitious project, the werewolf short Werehouse. Like most of Mark Young’s films, it will be penned by his frequent writing partner James Craigie.

As its name suggests, Werehouse will be a werewolf tale set inside, you’ve guessed it, a warehouse. A group of students seek refuge in the storage facility to escape from a violent protest, but they find that they may be in even greater danger after discovering that a ravenous beast may be trapped inside with them. The short will star Amy Tyger, Harriet Rees, Oliver Roy, and Derek Nelson.

Werehouse will be shot in black and white, although the filmmakers are using a special technique to isolate the color red in order to highlight the copious amounts of blood shown onscreen. Should the funding be successful, filming is expected to commence in April, and the film will be released on Amazon Instant Video this Halloween.

Published

Weird. That’s exactly what this exclusive clip from the indie flick Los Angeles Overnight is, and we’re ready to share every pixel of it with ya! Why? Because we like weird. A lot.

The directorial debut of filmmaker Michael Chrisoulakis will launch a limited national, theatrical release on March 9, followed by a digital release through Freestyle Digital Media on March 20.

Synopsis:
Inspired by the L.A. Modern Noir genre and populated with distinct and dynamic characters, Arielle Brachfeld (Consumption) stars as Priscilla, a struggling actress who inherits a bevy of colorful villains after desperation drives her and her gullible boyfriend, a lovelorn mechanic (Azim Rizk, Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk), to steal big from the Los Angeles underworld.

No amount of preparation could ever prepare this actress for a blood-soaked role filled with seedy criminals and “hot loot.” Entirely shot in Los Angeles, the cast is appropriately peppered with titans of the Hollywood scene including Peter Bogdanovich, Sally Kirkland, and recent CineAsia Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Lin Shaye.

Insidious Composer Joseph Bishara’s Score for The Worthy Being Released Tomorrow

Published

on

Tomorrow will see the digital release of the original soundtrack for The Worthy, a post-apocalyptic thriller that was one of the largest Arabic genre film productions in the Middle East. Featuring music by Joseph Bishara (Insidious, The Conjuring), the album will be released via the composer’s label, void recordings. Pre-orders are already open on Bandcamp.

Bishara explains, “Going into this, it was clear that [director] Ali [Mostafa] didn’t want a necessarily Middle Eastern sound though the film is of the region. He described it as taking place in a world after extremism, a relatable and possibly devastating scenario.

The composer adds, “Thematically the film deals with personalities that emerge through orchestrated chaos and how various types handle danger and adversity. There is a clear path for the hero to rise out of the situation, and his musical journey was worked backwards starting with the final scene, then deconstructing into the earlier setup.

The Worthy was directed by Ali F. Mostafa and written by Vikram Weet. It stars Ali Suliman, Maisa Abd Elhadi, Mahmoud Al Atrash, Samer Ismail, and Habib Ghuloom.
