#SDCC17: Alex Ross’ Universal Monsters Artwork Steals the Show

default-featured-image

Earlier this week we gave you a sneak peek of the new Alex Ross artwork honoring the Universal Monsters that is making its debut at the San Diego Comic-Con, and visiting his booth (#2415) was at the top of our to-do list for Preview Night.  Despite its size, people were shoulder-to-shoulder ogling the beauty around them; but we managed to squeeze in and grab a few photos to share.

We asked about the possibility of an art book being released of the prints, and it sounds like if it does happen, it won’t be for quite some time. So, in the meantime, enjoy the below images.  If you’re interested in the full set, there will only be 25 available at a cost of $3,800.00.

The Classic Universal Monsters set includes seven black and white editions:

  • Frankenstein (Boris Karloff, 1931)
  • Dracula (Bela Lugosi, 1931)
  • Bride of Frankenstein (Elsa Lanchester, 1935)
  • Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954)
  • The Mummy (Boris Karloff, 1932)
  • The Wolf Man (Lon Chaney Jr, 1941)
  • The Invisible Man (Claude Rains, 1933)

We couldn’t resist adding a bit of color so kicking things off is the good ol’ Wicked Witch of the West herself, Margaret Hamilton.
