This past April we had the opportunity to chat with writer/director/producer and all-around entertaining guy Charles Band (read it here) about his latest project Evil Bong 3D: The Wrath of Bong and how he was taking the film on the road to share with fans in selected cities.
Well, if you’re living in the New Jersey area, Band has cooked up a day-long event for fans this Saturday, May 14th, which includes the East Coast premiere of the flick, a 25th anniversary screening of From Beyond which will be introduced by Barbara Crampton, a Puppetmaster 2 20th anniversary screening introduced by star and Full Moon Scream Queen Charlie Spradling, a performance by Charles Band’s Full Moon Roadshow, and more.
Read on for more details from the official press release to find out more about the event and how to score your tickets to the Full Moon Film Festival.
From the Press Release:
Full Moon Features announced today that cult filmmaking legend Charles Band will present his latest gonzo film “experience” EVIL BONG 3D: THE WRATH OF BONG to Metuchen, New Jersey for a special one-night only event with screenings and performances at the Forum Arts Center (314 Main Street) on Saturday, May 14.
Following sold-out national tour dates in Chicago, Tempe, Dallas, Atlanta, Madison and Portland, Band will present EVIL BONG 3D in Sniff-o-Rama as well as special screenings of his cult classics FROM BEYOND and PUPPETMASTER 2 (from 35mm prints) in a day-long celebration of Full Moon’s unique brand of cinema. In addition, Full Moon will present his popular Horror Road Show including special celebrity appearances, burlesque-style performances, interactive contests with audience participation and prizes awarded prior to all screenings.
The EVIL BONG 3D/Horror Road Show in New Jersey will feature Full Moon stars Charlie Spradling (PUPPETMASTER 2) and Barbara Crampton (FROM BEYOND), as well as additional special guests, a bevy of Full Moon merchandise for sale, meet & greet, autograph and photo sessions.
Other highlights will include special contests for fans to get involved in leading up to the screening/appearance, including an unsigned band search, a YouTube video producer contest and a “nicest pussy award” (for photos of the film series’ fans with their pet cats). Visit the Evil Bong online for more info.
Armed with 3D glasses and Sniff-O-Rama Scratch and Sniff cards, audiences will be treated both visually and “scentually”, as they watch the 3rd installment of the Evil Bong series. Described as a gonzo combination, if not bastard relative of Cheech & Chong films, PINEAPPLE EXPRESS and the ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW, the film and the event promises to be a singular event.
Directed and produced by Band, EVIL BONG 3D: THE WRATH OF BONG follows the mayhem that ensues after an evil alien bong crashes on earth, bent on world domination. Through its diabolical machinations, our stoner heroes are transported to the alien bong home world and held captive by nude alien beauties – their only hope to escape and save planet earth being EBee, the original Evil Bong. Mitch Eakins, John Patrick Jordan, Robin Sydney and other favorites from the EVIL BONG series return.
Regarding the selection of New Jersey as the location for his successful Horror Road Show’s grand finale, Band said, “This tour has exceeded everyone’s expectations as every city has come out in force to enjoy EVIL BONG 3D. But from the beginning, we knew there was only one place and one group of fans that would guarantee the biggest finish ever for our tour, and that was New Jersey. That’s why we have pulled out all the stops to make this show a true culmination of what is truly a one-of-a-kind cinema-party experience. And if anyone can appreciate the silly and outrageous likes of this show, it would be our friends in New Jersey.”
The Chairman and Founder of Full Moon Pictures, Band’s film making career spans 300+ films including such cult classics as RE-ANIMATOR, PUPPETMASTER, TROLL, OBLIVION, PARASITE, DOLLMAN, SORORITY BABES IN THE SLIMEBALL BOWL-O-RAMA and many more.
Noted both for the cult favorites produced by his Empire Films (additional titles include ASSAULT OF THE KILLER BIMBOS, GOULIES and TERRORVISION), his critically successful partnership with director Stuart Gordon (additional titles include FROM BEYOND, CELLAR DWELLER and THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM), Band is also no stranger in the use of 3D film making, having several feature films produced for mainstream theatrical release in 3D, such as METALSTORM: THE DESTRUCTION OF JARED SYN and the aforementioned PARASITE (starring Demi Moore).
Band has also made a name for himself as a filmmaker/showman in the same vein as the legendary William Castle, who would travel with his films from city-to-city or create outrageous events around each screening involving everything from rigging buzzers to theater seats to shock audience members, flying in skeletons over their heads during the screenings or offering insurance policies in the lobby in case someone were to be literally scared to death during the film.
Advance tickets for all shows are available at Full Moon Direct.
