Criterion Announces Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me 4K Edition

Criterion has revealed the special features for their upcoming release of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, the film that acted as the prequel to the David Lynch/Mark Frost created television series that aired in the early 90’s. Their release will include a 4K digital transfer and 7.1 surround sound audio mix, both supervised by Lynch himself.

Originally released in 1992, the film was a response to fans demanding to know more about Twin Peaks and the ambiguous and unsatisfying ending that the series ended on. However, instead of a conclusion, they received a prequel that delved into the story of Laura Palmer before her death. Although a flop upon release and negatively received by critics, it has since developed a cult fan base and has gained appreciation over the years.

Pre-orders for Criterion’s edition, which comes out October 17th, can be found right here.

Synopsis:
In the town of Twin Peaks, everyone has their secrets—but especially Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee). In this prequel to his groundbreaking 1990s television series, David Lynch resurrects the teenager found wrapped in plastic at the beginning of the show, following her through the last week of her life and teasing out the enigmas that surround her murder. Homecoming queen by day and drug-addicted thrill seeker by night, Laura leads a double life that pulls her deeper and deeper into horror as she pieces together the identity of the assailant who has been terrorizing her for years. Nightmarish in its vision of an innocent torn apart by unfathomable forces, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me is nevertheless one of Lynch’s most humane films, aching with compassion for its tortured heroine—a character as enthralling in life as she was in death.

Special features:
