The Raven Flies to a Future Release Date

Post Thumb:

James McTeigue’s upcoming flick The Raven, starring John Cusack as Edgar Allan Poe, has taken flight for a release date in the future. Far into the future. When will he set up to roost? Read on for the answer.

Look for what Relativity Media is now calling James McTeigue’s Edgar Allan Poe project (will they be scrapping The Raven moniker?) in theatres on March 9th, 2012.

Luke Evans, Alice Eve, Brendan Gleeson and Oliver Jackson-Cohen also star working from a script by Ben Livingston and Hannah Shakespeare.

The Raven begins with Poe (played by Cusack) arriving in Baltimore as a serial killer is terrorizing the city, using the writer’s stories as the inspiration for his crimes. Poe is a suspect at first, but he eventually joins forces with a police inspector to solve the crimes and save the woman he loves.

Look for more, including an official title, soon.

You're such an inspiration for the ways that I will never, ever choose to be.

As much as I’m a fan of John Cusack as an actor, I think they made the wrong casting choice. For my money, you can’t get any closer to Edgar Allen Poe than Jeffrey Combs in the Masters of Horror episode The Black Cat. That was great to watch.
