Constantine 2The big screen adaptation of Constantine … well … sucked. With the exception of Peter Stormare’s all too short stint as Satan himself, there’s really not a lot of good to say about the movie. But what of its possible sequel?

In an interview with MTV director Francis Lawrence dropped the following on fans …

It’s interesting that over the years, ‘Constantine’ seems like it’s become… like it has this sort of cult following, which has been great,” said Lawrence. “It’s been embraced.” It has? By whom exactly?

It would be great to figure out a sequel, and if we did, and we’ve been trying to figure one out, it would be great to do the really dark, scary [version],” Lawrence continues. “We got caught in that weird PG-13 – R no man’s land, and we should do the hard-R scary version, which I would love to do.”

Okay so now you’re at least speaking our language. More soon. Check out the video below for the whole interview.

Constantine has a cult following? Really? There’s a lot of movies I forget to see. There’s a lot of movie I promptly forget seeing after seeing them. Constantine was rare in that I forgot seeing it as I sat there seeing it.

I dug Constantine to an extent, though alot of it was the all too short roles of Tilda Swinton as Gabriel and Peter Stormare as Lucifer.

I very much liked Constantine. Aside from casting Keanu Reeves in a role that belonged to a Brit it was an enjoyable movie that made good use of the source material (and yes, I own and read the original comics).
