#SDCC17: The Horrors of Day 3 (July 22) Include Stranger Things, Channel Zero: No End House, My Friend Dahmer, Lucifer, The X-Files: Cold Cases, The Originals, Ghost Wars, Kaiju, and More!

default-featured-image

We’re back with more panel info for the upcoming 2017 San Diego Comic-Con… up now is Day 3 (Saturday, July 22nd), which is pretty light overall on the big-name horror projects but is home to the likes of “Stranger Things,” The CW’s “The Originals” and “Riverdale”; “Lucifer”; a chat with Furiosa/the Atomic Blonde herself, Charlize Theron; My Friend Dahmer, The X-Files: Cold Cases with David Duchovny; a look at Contemporary Horror; “Midnight, Texas”; and “Westworld.”

You’ll also find Syfy’s “Channel Zero: No End House,” “Ghost Wars,” “Blood Drive,” “Wynonna Earp,” “The Magicians,” “The Expanse,” “Krypton,” and “Happy!” (it’s obviously a huge day for the network); Diamond Select Toys; Skybound, Image, Archie, Dark Horse, Crunchyroll, Top Cow, BOOM!, and Kodansha Comics; Capcom; and comic icons Robert Kirkman and Todd McFarlane “in conversation” (something I really hope I can squeeze into my schedule), all topped off by the annual Masquerade party and our buddies at Troma!

Since there are so few true horror events happening on Saturday, we’ve included some others that fall more in the sci-fi and general interest categories and/or have ties to the genre. So get your spreadsheets out, dig in, and click here for the full Saturday rundown if this isn’t enough for you. Several panels are offsite at the San Diego Central Library so if you need a break from the crowds, this might be a good day to meander over there for some stimulating Kaiju and Game of Thrones discussions.

From Acclaimed Graphic Novel to Daring New Film: My Friend Dahmer
Based on the acclaimed graphic novel by Derf Backderf, My Friend Dahmer is the eerie and electrifying new film written and directed by Marc Meyers, with Disney star Ross Lynch in a revelatory performance as Jeffrey Dahmer. Before Dahmer became one of the most notorious serial killers of all time, he was a shy kid, a teenage alcoholic, and a goofball who never quite fit in with his classmates. This is the haunting, sad, funny, true, origin story of Dahmer in high school. Moderated by Abraham Riesman (staff culture writer at New York Magazine and Vulture), Lynch, Backderf, and Meyers will discuss the joys and challenges of adapting this cult favorite for the big screen and the fascination with this infamous real-life figure. Attendees will also be treated to the first public teaser of the film exclusively at San Diego Comic-Con.
