Sales Art Debut – Joe Dante’s Monster Love

Post Thumb:

Darclight Films is pumping out the sales art for Cannes today, and the next bit of eye candy out of the gate is in promotion of the great Joe Dante’s next effort, Monster Love. Yeah, I know. We’re still waiting for his last film, The Hole, to be released here, but that doesn’t mean we can’t plan ahead.

Monster Love is a teen horror comedy from writer Greg Pak which we told you about back in February. Read on for plot details and of course the ocular stimuli!

A werewolf and a vampire fall in love, igniting a war between their respective communities. It’s ROMEO AND JULIET with fangs.

After PETE, a young dogwalker, gets dumped by his girlfriend, his slacker buddies convince him to run naked through the city park. As the moon rises, the boys laugh, howl, and transform…Later, a distraught young woman named MAGGIE is contemplating suicide when she’s surprised by an enormous wolf. She snarls, baring her vampire fangs. The wolf grins and barks: Let’s play!

After a fierce, exhilarating chase through the park, Maggie falls asleep with the wolf — and awakens in a naked young man’s arms. It’s Pete. And love at first sight.

Pete’s werewolf pals and Maggie’s upper-crust vampire clan are furious. And when some mangled bodies are discovered in the woods, Pete and Maggie must fight for their lives while grappling with the awful consequences of loving a monster.

Bet the writer is thrilled they misspelled “Galactica” on the poster.

And they drop “X-Men: Magneto” as a credit, but that movie got canceled. And he didn’t write The Incredible Hulk, he wrote the animated Planet Hulk movie. This is info that should probably be correct on SALES ART. Geez.

I’m just thrilled that Dante is making another movie. The Hole was an excellent kid’s horror movie that wasn’t really for kids.
