Not just content with getting the BabaDong or becoming an LGBT icon, it’s time now for the Babadook to become a hit music star! Well, kinda…

Pissi Myles, one of the Northeast’s fierce and exciting drag queens, has dropped a single for “Babashook”, a dance track inspired by the 2014 psychological drama horror/thriller. When asked why she created the music video Myles said, “My husband and I both love scary movies, so when Babadook “came out” we wanted to bring this new side of the character to life.

When asked about the relationship between drag and horror, Myles explained, “I think queer people have always identified with the isolation and power of the monster or villain in a horror movie, especially when they’re as fabulous as Babadook or Ursula the Sea Witch. As a gay person, there have always been people who made me feel like my actions were wrong or evil, when I knew that I was just pursuing my goals and desires. While many movie villains actually do have bad intentions, I’ve always had an understanding for the villain and their plight for understanding.

If you like the track, you can pick it up via iTunes.
