Saturn Awards 2017: The Winners Have Been Announced!

Earlier tonight the 43rd annual Saturn Awards ceremony, which celebrates and honors genre entertainment, took place in Burbank, CA. The event featured some of the best titles in the horror, sci-fi, and thriller genres over the past year nominated but only a select few were chosen as the winners and we’ve got a list of them for you!

Of interest in film, 10 Cloverfield Lane snagged three statuettes for Best Thriller Film, Best Actress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and Best Supporting Actor (John Goodman). Fede Alvarez’s Don’t Breathe was the Best Horror Film recipient while Park Chan-wook’s The Handmaiden won Best International Film.

In television, “The Walking Dead” won Best Horror TV Series as well as Best Actor on Television (Andrew Lincoln) and Best Guest Star on Television (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). “Stranger Things” also nabbed a win with Millie Bobby Brown taking Best Younger TV Actor as well as tying with “Marvel’s Luke Cage” for Best New Media TV Series. The Stephen King-based Hulu series “11.22.63” got Best Presentation on Television, and “Riverdale” was awarded Best Action/Thriller TV Series.

In the category of Home Entertainment Awards, Universal’s Frankenstein: Complete Legacy Collection got the Best DVD/BD Collection Release, Lionsgate got the Best DVD/BD Television Series Release for Hannibal: The Complete Series Collection, Well Go USA got Best DVD/BD Special Edition for Phantasm Remastered and, last but certainly not least, Epic Pictures took home the Best DVD/BD Release for Tales of Halloween.

Lee Majors (“Ash vs Evil Dead”) was the recipient of the Life Career Award, Akiva Goldsman earned the Visionary Award, and Heavy Metal Magazine got a shout out with the Special Recognition Award.
