The Conjuring 3 Confirmed!

New Line Cinema has confirmed that they are returning to the world of Ed and Lorraine Warren with The Conjuring 3, according to Deadline. The studio has hired David Leslie Johnson, who wrote the second film in the franchise, to write the third entry. They’re also going to bring James Wan back, although his role as writer/producer/director of the first two films is highly likely to change. While Wan has directed sequels in the past, he’s never stuck around for the director’s chair for a third entry to a series (Furious 7 doesn’t count, alright?). Instead, it seems that his role will simply be that of a producer, alongside Peter Safran, which will still help give the film a very recognizable and familiar tone/atmosphere.

The previous two films took in nearly $640 million worldwide and have spun off three films, including the already released Annabelle, the forthcoming Annabelle: Creation, the currently filming The Nun, and the recently announced Crooked Man.
