Universal has declared that Jurassic World 2 will from here on forward be referred to as Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which will be stomping into theaters on June 22, 2018. An official poster for the film can be seen here although still no official plot synopsis has been released. For more info visit the official site, jurassicworld.com.

Writer Colin Trevorrow recently spoke with MTV’s Happy Sad Confused Podcast, saying, “It is thus far my favorite creative collaboration that I’ve ever been involved in. J.A. Bayona is a completely different kind of filmmaker and thinker than I am; yet, we do have a lot of things in common so I was able to craft something specifically for another filmmaker that I admire. I built a Spanish horror thriller with dinosaurs in it that I probably wouldn’t have built for myself. I gotta tell you, man; I think that’s gonna be a better movie. I just do. It’s just deeper, it’s more character-based, it definitely leans into suspense, especially in the second half. It does have the big action in the middle, and there’s a sequence in the middle that I’ve been watching… I’ve started to see stuff come together, and it’s just insane.

Let’s do some speculating based on that title, shall we? We know that at the end of Jurassic World, the Masrani Global Corporation, owners of InGen, will be facing massive lawsuits and issues after the catastrophe at Isla Nublar. With many dead and even more injured, it’s an unavoidable scenario. Jeff Goldblum’s Dr. Ian Malcolm will be there to basically say, “I told you so!” while Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will find out that B.D. Wong’s character is up to no good, and they’ll have to take the fight to a new InGen facility, this one closed to the public. We’re also going to see some new dinosaur hybrids, a result of Wong grabbing all those samples from Jurassic World.

The entire above paragraph is just me having fun, but I’m willing to bet that at least some elements of it are true. Who wants to get a pool started on this?

Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Toby Jones, Justice Smith, Ted Levine, Rafe Spall, James Cromwell, Jeff Goldblum, and Daniella Pineda star. J.A. Bayona is on board to direct with Frank Marshall producing along with Pat Crowley and Belén Atienza.

Colin Trevorrow, who helmed Jurassic World, penned the script with his writing partner, Derek Connolly. Trevorrow will also executive produce with Steven Spielberg. VP of Production Sara Scott is overseeing production on behalf of Universal.
