Darren Bousman is a director who loves changing gears while riding on the darkest fringe of his imagination. From big money sequels to unconventional remakes to genetic operas to religious lunacy, it’s getting more and more difficult for anyone to put him in a box. This is a very good thing.

Darren BousmanAccording to Variety Bousman has sold an untitled pitch for a cerebral thriller to Andrew Adamson and Aron Warner’s Strange Weather Films shingle.

Bousman also plans to produce and direct the project, which happens to be a thriller in the vein of The Parallax View and The Firm involving flash mobs. Adamson and Warner bought the pitch from their development fund with Reel FX and also plan to produce.

Strange Weather exec Jeff Fierson, who will co-produce and oversee development, had worked with Bousman before, making the decision to go with the shingle that much easier. Bousman actually put together a five-minute trailer and a booklet as part of his pitch.

“Partnering up on a movie, you need a certain connection — and he immediately got it,” Bousman said.

Bousman will begin working on the script after finishing post on 11-11-11, set to come out this November. Not sure how DC worthy this one will be, but we’ll be watching, and if coverage is warranted, that’s exactly what you’ll be getting.
