It looks like Stephen King’s world of “Castle Rock” will be invading Devens, Massachusetts, as well as the surrounding areas, to film its 10-episode run! A story from Lowell Sun states that production crews have already begun building sets and that the show will shoot from August through January of 2018.

David Hartman, director of the Massachusetts Production Coalition, explains, “It’s a really exciting and prestigious project. Landing a TV series for the state is a major win, and an indication of how far the industry has come here. …we have the right infrastructure, crew and talent base, and a stable incentive program to land this big one.

Recent news from Deadline confirms that André Holland (Moonlight, “The Knick,” “American Horror Story: Roanoke”) has been cast as the lead in Hulu’s upcoming psychological horror series. Holland will play Henry, a Death Row attorney with a unique and complicated history in Castle Rock, Maine.

The series, which hails from JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot and Warner Bros. TV, is based on the world created by Stephen King in his various works. It is named after Castle Rock, the fictional town in King’s native Maine that is featured prominently in a number of his novels, novellas, and short stories.

“Manhattan” creator Sam Shaw and Dustin Thomason developed the project for television, based on characters and situations created by Stephen King, and serve as writers. They executive produce with Abrams, Ben Stephenson, and Liz Glotzer.

“Castle Rock” reunites Hulu, King, Bad Robot, and Warner Bros., which previously collaborated on event series “11.22.63” based on King’s same-named novel. The series will stream exclusively in the U.S. on Hulu, and Warner Bros. Worldwide Television Distribution will distribute globally.

Synopsis:
A psychological horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse, “Castle Rock” combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland. “Castle Rock” is an original suspense/thriller — a reimagining that explores the themes and worlds uniting the entire King canon, while brushing up against some of his most iconic and beloved stories.
