The peaceful Hudson River Valley is about to find itself in the middle of a holocaust or two. Hudson Horror Show III: A Tale of Two Holocausts is a film festival scheduled for May 14, 2011 at the Silver Cinemas South Hills 8 in Poughkeepsie, NY featuring a line-up of five serious heavy-hitters of horror and gore.
Headlining this quintet of quivers is the ‘80s punk classic zombie extravaganza Return of the Living Dead. Part horror, part comedy, all gore, this is the can’t miss main event. Also showing are: the grindhouse classic Doctor Butcher, M.D. aka Zombie Holocaust, Ruggero Deodato’s Cannibal Holocaust (good luck enjoying beef jerky after this one), horror master Dario Argento’s The Bird with the Crystal Plumage and the film that taught us all not to buy exotic pets and flush them down the commode, Alligator. An all-star line-up if there ever was one. The films are all being shown from rare 35mm prints.
Hudson Horror Show III will run from 1pm until midnight, and advance tickets are only $26 (for five movies? Yes, for five movies!), $30 the day of the show (still a great deal). Advance ticket purchasers will be granted admission first and receive an official Hudson Horror Show III vomit bag (a souvenir for you and a godsend to the Silver Cinemas South Hills 8 janitorial staff).
