Exciting news for Joe Lynch as it’s been announced by Deadline that the director has been tapped to bring to life a new horror film by the name of Taste. Written by David Cohen, the film follows a couple who are hired to cook for a private event. However, it turns out that the menu might have a few additional items on it that they didn’t know about… themselves!
Taste will be produced by Cohen along with Erin Eggers, Chase Hudson, and Matthew Porter from their Penchant Entertainment production banner.
Lynch told the site, “I’ve been dying to direct something darker in the genre, and when I read David’s script, which had a fantastic take on the current foodie/haute cuisine culture, I was pretty much salivating, pun intended! I’m thrilled to be working with Penchant to bring this fantastically twisted and exciting tale to life and make people rethink what’s for dinner.”
Lynch is riding a high after the recent acquisition by RLJ Entertainment and AMC’s Shudder of his latest film, Mayhem (review), which stars Steven Yeun and Samara Weaving. That film will be coming out later this year in theaters and on VOD platforms before heading to Shudder in the first quarter of 2018.
