Legendary and Warner Bros., you are KILLING it with your King Kong/Godzilla universe directors! First we got Michael Dougherty directing Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and now it’s been revealed by THR that Adam Wingard (Death Note, The Guest, You’re Next) has been locked down as the director of 2020’s Godzilla vs. Kong!

Plot details are obviously very much under wraps, and we probably won’t know anything about what’s coming for another couple of years.

From THR: Legendary set a writers room to work on the script for Godzilla vs. Kong, with Terry Rossio, the veteran scribe best known for co-writing the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, as its head. Other scribes scribbling included team Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne (Star Trek Beyond), Lindsey Beer, Cat Vasko, Maze Runner movies writer T.S. Nowlin, Jack Paglen (Johnny Depp’s Transcendence), and “Babylon 5” creator J. Michael Straczynski.

This year brought us Kong: Skull Island, which is going to be followed by Godzilla: King of the Monsters on March 22, 2019. Confirmed to appear in Dougherty’s film are Millie Bobby Brown (“Stranger Things”), Vera Farmiga (The Conjuring, “Bates Motel”), Charles Dance (“Game of Thrones”), Kyle Chandler, Ken Watanabe (Godzilla), Sally Hawkins, O’Shea Jackson, Jr., and Randy Havens star.

Legendary and Warner Bros. announced in late 2015 that all future King Kong and Godzilla movies would be developed by Legendary and distributed by Warner Bros., starting with Kong: Skull Island. Legendary currently holds a distribution deal with Universal, but in order to re-team Godzilla and King Kong, the studio returned the rights to WB.
