The Apes to Rise In the Summer Again

Remember when Planet of the Apes: Rise of the Apes was scheduled for a summer release but was then bumped back to a fall premiere? Yeah, things change, and it looks as if Fox is once again banking on that ever so special blockbuster time of the year.

According to Box Office Mojo20th Century Fox has moved the James Franco starring film to a steamier August 5th, 2011 release date.

Set in San Francisco, Rise of the Apes revolves around man’s experiments with genetic engineering that lead to a dramatic increase in the intelligence of apes and the onset of war for supremacy. Rupert Wyatt is directing from a script by Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa.

The great Andy Serkis plays the ape Ceasar, and the film also stars John Lithgow, Freida Pinto, Brian Cox, Tom Felton, and David Hewlett.

John Lithgow and Brian Cox in the same flick? I’m sold.

Also it’s good to see David Hewlett in a film after SGA got cancelled, however I can’t really see him playing any other character-type than McKay.
