Indie Horror Month: Dread Central’s Video Tribute to Troma Entertainment

Undoubtedly the modern independent horror landscape would be a very different place had Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz not taken a gamble on making a horror film in the 1980s. Kaufman, seeing the potential to reach horror fans everywhere, unleashed The Toxic Avenger in 1985, and the horror world has been a very different place ever since Toxie hit the streets.

Troma Entertainment is known for its loyal fanbase, its truly independent filmmaking style and being the home where many of our current genre favorites got their start. Not only did Troma make an impression in the film industry, but it captured the imaginations of fans worldwide through other mediums as well.

In honor of Lloyd Kaufman and Troma’s contributions to both the horror genre as well as the film industry as a whole, we here at Dread Central wanted to pay tribute to all things Troma and put together this video montage of some very rare footage that also features cameos by James Gunn, Tiffany Shepis, Trey Parker, Matt Stone, Eli Roth, Lemmy from Motorhead and Corey Feldman just to name a few.

So, horror fans, raise your mops in honor of Troma Entertainment and enjoy our video tribute to one of the true independent pioneers of horror entertainment!
