The autobiographical comic My Friend Dahmer has gotten a film adaptation from writer/director Marc Meyers (How He Fell in Love) and now it’s even gotten distro! THR is reporting that FilmRise has acquired the film for North America, with plans to release the feature in the fall.

The movie tells the true story of Jeffrey Dahmer as a high schooler in the late 1970s, documenting his downward spiral from awkward teenager to would-be serial killer.

Marc Meyers adapted the graphic novel into the Black List screenplay and directed the feature, which premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival.

The Ibid Filmworks and Aperture Entertainment production stars Ross Lynch as Dahmer, while Alex Wolff plays classmate Backderf. Anne Heche and Vincent Kartheiser also star.

Jody Girgenti, Adam Goldworm, Michael Merlob, Milan Chakraborty and Meyers produced the pic, with Michael Novogratz and Giorgio Angelini executive produced.
