Do you have the wit and the tit to be the next Mistress of the Dark? Original “Elvira” Cassandra Peterson is looking for an understudy with her new show set to premiere on the Fox Reality Channel on October 13th.
“The Search for the Next Elvira” is a reality competition consisting of three, one-hour episodes during which contestants hoping they have the ability to jest and a very nice chest compete for the opportunity to share the title of Elvira, Mistress of the Dark with Peterson, who claims there’s just too much demand for Elvira for her to handle alone (i.e. she’s getting a bit long in the tooth herself, but hopes to keep the Elvira trademark forever profitable). Following the second episode scheduled for October 20th, viewers at home will then be able to vote for their personal favorite wannabe Elvira with the winner crowned as the next Mistress of the Dark during the live finale episode on Halloween night.
Any lovely lasses reading this who feel they’re Elvira enough to fill Cassandra Peterson’s cleavage and are in the Long Beach, California area may be interested to know that Fox Reality is holding an open “Casket Call” for show constestants on Friday, July 13th at the notoriously haunted Queen Mary. For fans of the one and only original, Sony will be releasing a half dozen, low-priced, Elvira-hosted movies onto DVD on August 7th.

Most of these are appearing on DVD for the very first time. Heck, in the case of Gamera: Super Monster and Maneater of Hydra, this is the first time they’ve ever been available in any official form domestically.
