Guillermo del Toro, At the Mountains of Madness, Pacific Rim, and Big Decisions

Guillermo del ToroHollywood is a strange place indeed. Some disconcerting news coming in today for horror fans looking forward to Guillermo del Toro’s participation in two monster-sized movies, Pacific Rim and At the Mountains of Madness.

According to Deadline, given Universal’s reluctance to give At the Mountains of Madness the green light over rating (an R rating has been proposed) and budgetary disputes, Legendary Pictures is moving fast on a project del Toro likes called Pacific Rim, a Travis Beacham-scripted PG-13 tent pole-sized project with big monsters and the creation of a new world. Warner Bros. Pictures would distribute.

As a result Pacific Rim could very well be del Toro’s next project with the incredible director tackling At the Mountains of Madness at a later time. Still … there’s no reason to get excited just yet; del Toro has stated on many occasions that Mountains is his dream project so we’re confident that no matter what the flick will get made. As fanboys we just wish to get it sooner rather than later. Here’s hoping we get our wish!

Stay tuned for good news either way.
