Resident Evil Begins Again in September 2012

Now here’s something very interesting coming out of the Sony Screen Gems camp concerning the very next film in the highly successful Resident Evil franchise … could a much needed reboot be on the horizon?
The studio just announced that they’ve locked in a date of September 14, 2012, for the fifth film in the franchise tentatively titled (according to Bloody Disgusting) Resident Evil Begins.
Could this be a prequel? A reboot? Will Milla Jovovich’s character Alice be involved at all? Given that the last film made about three hundred million worldwide (yay inflated 3D prices!), the smart money is on the possibility that she will be carrying on.
To date, despite the hamfisted writing and direction of Paul Anderson, the Resident Evil franchise has earned around seven hundred million all things considered. Look for more on this fast moving fifth entry soon.
