A couple of weeks ago, it was announced that Guillermo del Toro’s latest film The Shape of Water would be coming to theaters on December 8th. Now the director has revealed that the film has received an R rating from the MPAA. The IMDb page lists the reasons as, “sexual content, graphic nudity, violence and language.” Sounds like our kind of movie!

That being said, del Toro is also quick to note that this is NOT a horror film, writing, “The Shape of Water is NOT a horror movie. It’s a bit of a fairy tale story – a fable set in early 1960’s America.

The film stars Sally Hawkins, Octavia Spencer, Richard Jenkins, Michael Shannon, Doug Jones, and Michael Stuhlbarg.

Synopsis:
