The tale of Quasimodo has been put to film many different times in many different ways over the decades, and that’s definitely due in part to the innocent charm of everyone’s favorite deformed bell ringer.
According to Variety Josh Brolin is developing a Hunchback of Notre Dame project at Warner Bros. with the actor starring and producing through his Brolin Productions shingle.
The scripting team of Kieran and Michele Mulroney are on board to pen Hunchback based on an idea developed by Brolin. The film is being developed as a possible directing vehicle for Tim Burton, who’s not yet formally attached.
No word yet on whether or not Brolin will be donning the extensive make-up, but after the disaster that was Jonah Hex, we’re not too sure Hollywood would let him ugly it up again. Stay tuned.
