Some good news has come down via Variety for a guy whom we consider one of our own, Going to Pieces: The Rise and Fall of the Slasher Film (review) producer Rudy Scalese.
The trade reported this morning that Scalese has been hired as director of development for Nala Films, the company behind, among other films, Eduardo Rodriguez’s Open Grave, which we last told you about right here.
Scalese will be responsible for helping to identify material that can fill up Nala’s projected production slate of four to five mid- to high-budget films per year as well as low-budget “genre fare,” as the trade somewhat insultingly refers to the genre we all live and breath.
I won’t take it personally though.
It’s definitely a good deal for Scalese, who can hopefully utilize his expertise to help some more good horror get made the right way.
