Last summer we got the early word that Lance Henriksen would be writing an autobiography of his iconic life and career with the help of Nightmare in Red White and Blue writer/producer Joe Maddrey, and now we finally know the title and who will be publishing it.
Not Bad for a Human (official site here) is the name of Henriksen’s book, and it will be published in a limited edition by Steve Niles and Alex Lodermeier at Bloody Pulp Books this summer. It will feature illustrations by Bernie Wrightson, Eric Powell, Tim Bradstreet, Mike Mignola, Ashley Wood, Bill Sienkiewicz, and many others although the line-up may change slightly.
Niles posted the image you see below of the T-shirts Lance will be giving away at his Australia convention stops this month at Armageddon Expo in Sydney (Feb. 26/27) and Adelaide (March 5/6). The art featured is by Bill Sienkiewicz. Steve explains: “I had no intention of publishing a bio. That was until I met Lance and read his book. I was so struck by the honesty of it, and the fact that he talked about the work and not gossip, it made me want to publish it…and here we are. I knew we were onto something when I started calling artists. Every single artist I called said yes to the project straight out. I told Lance that’s the power of his work. He has fans everywhere.”
I’m sure you’ll share this sentiment with me when I scream WHERE CAN I GET ONE??!! Let’s just say the plea has been heard and the wheels are in motion so when I know, you’ll know five minutes later. In the meantime click here to join the mailing list for updated info.
