Tortured Update

Hostel Part IISo in case you didn’t notice, Hostel Part II didn’t do so well this weekend. I could go into my usual rant about how horror just doesn’t do well in summer and when the hell is anyone going to learn that, but instead I will use this as a good reason why making a movie called Tortured may not be the best idea right now.

“We take the attitude that if you make a good movie, people will come. If you make a great western, people will come. Here we take an every man or woman who is put in a position, put their back against the wall and say ‘Great, now what do you do?’ Then put a little twist at the end.” That is Twisted Films producer Mark Burg talking to STYD about the aforementioned film, which we last told you about right here.

A final polish is being done on the script, which follows a couple who manage to capture the pedophile responsible for the death of their child and the moral choices they have to make about what to do with him. The film is going in front of cameras very soon, casting is set to begin next week, with Rob Lieberman directing.

So is it a good idea to make such a blatantly titled film right now, when by all accounts torture may not be the hottest thing? I guess only time will tell. Sadly, Burg’s theory about making a good movie to attract audiences isn’t entirely true, since a lot of good movies gave come out in the past few years and done shit for money. Be sure to hit the above link for the entire interview and keep it here for more as we learn it!
