The Void Performs Strongly at the Box Office

Published

This weekend, the indie sci-fi/horror film THE VOID (review) hit limited theaters, as well as VOD platforms and OnDemand. It turns out that word of mouth and hype for the film worked as it was a huge success at multiple venues across the United States.

According to an official press release, The Void, “…was the #1 grossing film at multiple locations including the Village East Theater in NY and at the Arena in LA. Also, the Nitehawk in Brooklyn, and the Music Box in Chicago sold out all of its midnight shows. Overall, there were sold out shows across the board in the following markets over the weekend: New York (Brooklyn, Yonkers), Chicago, Miami, Texas (El Paso, Lubbock, Dallas), Lancaster PA, Salem MA, Columbus, California (Los Angeles, Santa Ana, and San Diego).

Said Tom Yagielski, SVP Domestic Distribution at Screen Media, “Considering most of these engagements were limited to late and midnight showings we are thrilled audiences are responding so strongly to THE VOID. With sold out shows in over a dozen markets, and near full houses in many others, we are optimistic this weekend will launch THE VOID as a perennial midnight film on the indie circuit.

The Void was written and directed by Jeremy Gillespie and Steven Kostanski and stars Aaron Poole, Ellen Wong, Kathleen Munroe, Stephanie Belding, and Kenneth Welsh.

In THE VOID, officer Daniel Carter (Poole) happens upon a blood-soaked figure limping down a deserted stretch of road while he’s in the middle of a routine patrol. He rushes the young man to a nearby rural hospital staffed by a skeleton crew, only to discover that patients and personnel are transforming into something inhuman. As the horror intensifies, Carter leads the other survivors on a hellish voyage into the subterranean depths of the hospital in a desperate bid to end the nightmare before it’s too late.

Exclusive: Megaherz Raise the Curtains With “Vorhang Auf” Video Premiere

Published

on

Today we’re teaming up with German industrial metal band Megaherz to bring you the exclusive music video premiere for their song “Vorhang Auf”, which appears on their upcoming album Komet. Directed by Adam D. Barker, the video sees the band performing in a domed, almost MMA-esque cage while surrounded by dozens upon dozens of tealight candles. This footage is intercut with a ballerina (Lauren Burton) performing her own dance moves to the Neue Deutsche Härte style of music.

Megaherz tells Dread Central, “Vorhang Auf (Let the Curtain Rise)” is a song about our lives, the stage, the whole energy we share with the audience. The pain, the intoxication, the strength. An incredulous feeling that makes everything else forget. Let’s dance together and let’s hope we don’t ever have to stop!

Komet comes out February 23 and can be pre-ordered through Napalm Records.

You can follow Megaherz on their official website and through Facebook.
