Basket Case Could Be Clawing its Way to Blu-ray This October

Some interesting news came across our desk today regarding one of the greatest horror/exploitation films of the 1980s. If all goes well, horror fans will be reveling in the grimy delights of Basket Case in high definition in the very near future.

Director Frank Henenlotter took to his Facebook page to address a fan’s question regarding the original Basket Case. “We’re hoping to have a “Basket Case” blu-ray ready by October through Image Entertainment, remastered from the original 16mm negative (which has never been used for any previous releases).”

Nothing has been officially announced as of yet, but it sounds like there’s been some discussion about giving this sucker the royal treatment. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for this one. I want to feel like I’m living in squalor alongside Duane and Belial in that wonderful Hotel Broslin.

A big thanks to DC reader Shaun Boutwell for the tip off.

Truth be told I really enjoyed the sequels as well. I’d like them all on Blu.

I love this movie, a down and dirty unique classic. Definitely a blu ray buy.
